On Tuesday, November 18th 2008 the world become a better place. Just Rite Design along with other businesses in the Willmar area joined forces to broadcast the third online telethon. Coined as a "webathon" we were asked to help with the broadcast by bringing our expertise in live muticamera operations along with our graphic design skills to create banner ads to run along aside the broadcast. We were happy to help such a worthy cause. When it was all done over $5000.00 was donated which translated into over 50,000 "Pay It Forward" bracelets which will be donated by Charley Johnson of SnugZ USA issued through the Pay It Forward Foundation.
BACKGROUND:
In 2000, Kevin Spacey, Helen Hunt, and Haley Joel Osmet made history with the movie "Pay It Forward". A story of a teacher challenging his students to come up with an idea that could change the world. Haley played the child actor who came up with the concept of paying it forward. Based on the book written by Catherine Hyde, Haley's character came up with an idea that if he did one act of kindness for three strangers and in turn asked them to do the same, and those people to also do the same and so on; the ripple effect would change the world.
MSNBC Interview with Catherine Hyde and her latest book
Two years ago, Charley Johnson decided he wanted to continue that trend across the globe and developed silicone bracelets that read "Pay It Forward". 365,000 bracelets were originally manufactured and they have traveled across the globe with one simple request. Do an act of kindness for someone and then pass the bracelet on and ask them to do the same.
In October of 2008 Brady Hughs met Charley Johnson through an e-mail and the Pay It Forward Foundation Telethon was born. This worldwide organization is changing the world one life at a time. Now together with helloWorld, the Pay It Forward Foundation, Brady Hughs, and his friend Kenny Turck along with Just Rite Design and other businesses in Willmar launched a worldwide webcast which was viewed in over 50 countries. Numerous special guests (including author Catherine Hyde) phoned in and appeared in our studio at the MinnWest Technology Campus during the broadcast in support. This is a remarkable event that will not only demonstrate the power of helloWorld, but also the spirit of helloWorld. From noon - midnight central time on Tuesday November 18th--be the change you want to see in the world.
